What is a T5 tax slip?

The T5 slip is a document used to report your interest and investment income from non-registered investment accounts to the Government of Canada.

If you are a National Bank client and are required to file a T5, we’ll automatically mail your slip to you. You do not have to request it.

Good to know:

  • Your investment income from a registered account, such as your TFSA or RRSP, is not included in the T5.
  • If your annual investment income from non-registered accounts is less than $50, you do not have to file a T5.

For more information on the T5 slip or to learn about the different Canadian tax slips, consult our Tax and Investment Guide 2021 document.
