Length of the promotion

From May 7, 2026, to November 3, 2026. 

Promotion description

Up to $600 cashback after opening a chequing account and adding certain products or services or carrying out certain transactions in the new account listed in the following section.

Eligibility conditions

Basic cashback of $300 for the first chequing account :

During the promotion period, open your first chequing account and sign up for The Connected® or The Total® package as the primary account holder.

Within 120 days of opening the chequing account and the eligible package, complete the following 3 steps:

  1. Sign up for your online bank
  2. Complete 20 eligible transactions, including:
    • Debit card purchases
    • Bill payments using your online banking or the National Bank app. The following transactions are excluded: refunds of purchases (Interac®), reimbursement of monthly fees, flat monthly fee, account handling charges
  3. Receive 3 eligible automatic deposits of at least $100 each, according to the following schedule:
    • 1st deposit: within the first 60 days after opening the chequing account.
    • 2nd deposit: between 60 and 89 days after opening the chequing account.
    • 3rd deposit: between 90 and 120 days after opening the chequing account.

Eligible automatic direct deposits (based on Payments Canada transaction codes):

Payroll Deposit, Special Pay List, Vacation Pay, Overtime Pay, Early Pay, Commission Pay, Premium Pay, Adjustment Pay, Pension, Federal Pension, Provincial Pension, Private Pension, Retirement Income Funds, Canada Child Benefit, Canada Pension Plan, Old Age Security, War Veterans Allowance, Veterans Affairs Canada, Public Service Pension, Canadian Armed Forces Superannuation, Employment Insurance, Family Responsibility Plan, Income Security Benefit, CNESST, Employment Assistance Allowance, Disability Benefit, Parental Insurance, Child Support, Miscellaneous Payments, Accounts Receivable, Canada Benefit for Persons with disabilities. 

Maintain this package or any privilege offer with the eligible package at all times for at least 120 days after opening the new chequing account.

Must not have a chequing account, CAD Progress Account, Crescendo Account®, The Strategist Account®, The Natcan Strategist Account, Special Project Savings Account, Superior Flex Line Program®, Home Improvement Line of Credit, personal line of credit, All-In-One Line of Credit®, or must not have had a National Bank High Interest Savings Account, alone or jointly in the past 36 months.

All of the above conditions must be met to be eligible for the following additional amounts.

An additional $100 linked to a new credit card. Within 120 days of opening the chequing account and signing up for the eligible package, complete the following 2 steps:

  1. Apply for and be approved for one of the following National Bank credit cards as the primary cardholder: Platinum Mastercard®, World Mastercard®, World Elite® Mastercard®, mycredit Mastercard®, Allure® Mastercard®, MC1® Mastercard®, Echo® Cashback Mastercard®, Syncro Mastercard®
  2. Complete at least 20 purchases or cash advances with the new credit card. The following transactions are excluded:
    • Mastercard cheques
    • Interest
    • Non-interest fees (e.g., annual fees, currency conversion fees, and insurance premiums)
    • Purchase returns
    • Credit card payment with your points
    • Credits applied to the account when you redeem points for a reward

Must not have been holder/primary cardholder or authorized user of a National Bank personal credit card in the past 36 months.

An additional amount of $100 related to the payment of a mortgage loan. Within 120 days of opening the chequing account and signing up for the eligible package, complete the following step:

  1. Set up pre-authorized, recurring payments from the new chequing account for a National Bank mortgage.

An additional amount of $100 related to a new savings account. Within 15 days of opening the chequing account and signing up for the eligible package, you must:

  1. Open a High Interest Savings Account.
  2. Deposit at least $5,000 in the High Interest Savings Account.
  3. Keep a minimum balance of $5,000 at all times and without interruption up to the 120th day after opening the chequing account.

Must not have held a National Bank High Interest Savings account alone or jointly in the past 36 months.

Total cashback if all conditions are met: up to $600

When the cashback is paid to your chequing account

If you meet the eligibility requirements, the cashback will be deposited into the account by the end of the sixth month following the date your chequing account is opened.

Other conditions:

  • You may receive only one cashback for this chequing account.
  • You must be at least 14 years old at the time the new chequing account is opened.
  • You must keep the new chequing account and, if applicable, the new eligible credit card for at least 12 months from the date the chequing account is opened. If you don’t meet this condition, you’ll have to reimburse a portion of the cashback for the product you didn’t maintain corresponding to the period remaining.
  • You must keep your National Bank chequing account in good standing until the cashback is paid. For the purposes of this promotion, the chequing account is not in good standing if:
    • it is overdrawn, meaning it has an unauthorized negative balance; or
    • it has been used in an inappropriate, unauthorized, illegal or abusive manner, as described in section 8.7 of the National Bank Deposit Accounts Agreement.
  • You must keep your new credit card account in good standing by meeting the conditions in the Credit Card Agreement (if applicable). For example, all minimum payments must be made on time.
  • The new eligible credit card (if applicable) is granted subject to credit approval from National Bank. You must be 18 years old when you sign up for the new card. Other conditions apply to the issue of the card.
  • You must not be an employee of National Bank, CWB® or one of their subsidiaries. Spouses of employees are also not eligible.
  • This promotion may be modified or withdrawn without prior notice.
  • This promotion cannot be combined with any other National Bank cashback promotion applicable to chequing accounts or banking packages. However, it can be combined with another eligible National Bank credit card, mortgage loan, mortgage insurance, or investment promotion.

Here’s how to open a joint account:

1. Make an appointment

Schedule an appointment online, either in person at any branch or by video call. Specify the type of account you’d like to open in the Additional Details section. Add the name(s) of anyone accompanying you in the Additional Attendees section.

2. Prepare your documents

Ensure everyone at your appointment has the appropriate identification documents indicated in the appointment confirmation.

3. Choose your account

Chequing account

Receive your income directly into this account and carry out your daily transactions: purchases, withdrawals, deposits, bill payments, transfers between accounts, sending money, and more. This account provides each co-owner with a debit card.

Savings account

Use your savings account to put money aside for a specific goal, like an upcoming vacation, or to ensure you have an emergency fund in case the unexpected happens, for example you lose your job. With this type of account, you'll earn interest on your savings and have easy access to your money.

Rights and obligations

1. Transactions carried out at our ABMs, a participating merchant, through our online banking services ((including our call centre) or those related to certain operations in your account.

2. Transactions carried out at our branches during normal business hours.

3. No fees for sending an Interac ® e-Transfer.

5. New holders of an eligible National Bank Mastercard credit card and a chequing account with The Total® package will receive a discount of up to $150. Eligible credit cards and respective discounts are: Echo® Cashback, Syncro, Platinum, World and World Elite®. The discount only applies once after enrollment. The bank account must be opened before the credit card account to qualify for the discount offer. The amount of the discount will be applied as a credit to the credit card account statement within a maximum of 90 days after activation of the card. To qualify for the discount, the credit card account must be in good standing and the bank account must not be overdrawn. The main cardholder and co-holder of an account with The Total package may be entitled to a discount provided they each sign up for an eligible Mastercard primary card. No discount will be given to holders of an additional Mastercard card. Accounts opened with The Total package before January 22, 2018, are not eligible for this discount. 6. Excludes any questions about any commercial or criminal activity. For all the details and conditions about the legal and estate assistance service, consult our legal assistance service page.

7. If you run out of funds during a transaction, overdraft protection allows you to recover the missing money from one of the banking products you designate when you sign up (account, line of credit or Mastercard credit card). With The Total plan, you avoid the $5 transfer fee that usually applies to each transfer when there aren't enough funds. If you want to subscribe, schedule a meeting with an advisor.

10. We reserve the right to end, without notice, the discount applicable to your banking package if you do not maintain the eligible products. You must also maintain your credit card account in good standing by respecting the conditions provided for in the Credit Card Agreement. This discount cannot be combined with a bank offer. In the event you close your eligible credit card account or do not maintain the eligible banking plan or your credit card account in good standing, we will charge you the full amount of the applicable flat monthly fee, excluding this discount.
